Downloaded and installed Internet Explorer 8 on my Vista laptop the other day and I discovered an annoying little problem.

It first appeared when I was using Google reader and tried to click through a link in an rss article I was reading. Nothing happened I tried using the context menu to open the link in a new tab and a new window with no success. Links on other pages tended to work ok. I tried looking at the IE8 settings, thinking there was some wierd setting that was set but I was unable to click on the link successfully.  This was becoming an annoying little problem as use Google Reader a lot.

After a bit of digging around I found the solution to my problem. I needed to register a couple of DLL files.

In a command prompt I typed the following commands:

regsvr32 urlmon.dll
regsvr32 actxproxy.dll

After rebooting the laptop everything started working ok.
